Performance Improvements
As with most CATALYST™ releases performance has increased in various situations. The following performance gains are noticed:

The Pixel Shader performance of our DX9-class products has improved considerably with Catalyst 4.3.
Halo and Tomb Raider framerates are up 3-7%.
Shader-specific technology tests such as ShaderMark show gains in the region of 10-20% or more.
3DMark03's Mother Nature scene runs 2-5% faster across the entire DX9 product line. Our 3DMark03 Pixel Shader 2.0 framerate improves 7-15%.
Aquamark 3 performance has also improved slightly, at higher resolutions.

I'm interested in that first one "The Pixel Shader performance of our DX9-class products has improved considerably with Catalyst 4.3. "

He posted on driverhaven that there would be a speed increase.. and asked if we would like new Cat's today. Duh!

or my next review which is already done and in the editting phase, which has a 9600XT in it and the FarCry second demo with the research facility

thats what happens though when one driver a month is released, heh

Jeez, why is ATI releasing drivers so fast! They're going to run out of numbers soon.

I just got a 9800 Pro a little while back, so this'll be my first driver upgrade. Is it a good idea to run Driver Cleaner between each new set of drivers, or can I just go ahead and run the executable and feel fine about it? I'm paranoid about having the same kind of problems I had with my Ti4400.

2K&XP drivers are one in the same. As they are for almost all hardware out there.

Master, there is a workaround for that. It has been fixed, and will not be an issue when the game comes out.

What I do is, remove my ethernet cable. Uninstall drivers in the add/remove, then use the uninstall cat utility. Its still in the c:\ati dir. Reboot, you should get two popup's saying it found new hardware, I cancel them both. I delete the ATi dir, and then install the new drivers.

Plug back in my ethernet cable, and reboot. Never had a problem with installation yet.

I just wish they would work on the Linux drivers. The drivers are a bitch to install, and give very poor performance with the occasional crash. They need to learn from NVidia! Nvidia's linux drivers install in under 2 min, and work flawlessly.

Yeah well the new cats completely solved my problem, i'm loving running farcry on absolute max, Very High setting on everything at 1024x768 res. Framerate almost never goes gay, but i think i may turn it down to high on a few things just because during a 360 degree turn its lags for a bout 1/4th of a second, and that angers me

I'm having major probs with the new drivers. Actually its been going on since the last two releases. I am currently using 'wxp-w2k-catalyst-7-962-031202m1-012924c.exe' and everything works fine. But if I try to update them to the lastest or the one before the latest it totaly wiggs out. When windows first starts it looks like its downloading the welcome screen on a dialup modem, just real slow. When I try to play games it says this video mode is not supported by your card (like 800x600..) or opengl not supported etc etc etc...

Ya, I looked at the installation guide for the ATI linux drivers and then a thanked God that a version came with mandrake even if it is an older one.
