Catalyst 11.4 not installing?

So I'm trying to update to CCC 11.4. Uninstalled 11.2, booted into safe mode, ran Driver Sweeper, restart, installed CCC. Upon restart, it's nowhere to be seen. Have been trying all different configurations for the past few hours. I've had this problem on several different driver upgrades and always got it to work, but this seems to be the exception. Any tips?

Specs are: i7-720qm, MR HD 5870, and 8GB RAM.
 
Do you mean you cannot get the CCC to show? The problem is you ran driver sweeper. It deletes files it shouldn't in SP1. If so follow these steps.

1. Go to Add/Remove programs, Open Catalyst Install manager.
2. ONLY uninstall the Catalyst Control Panel. Leave everything else installed.
3. After the CCC is uninstalled, Reboot.
4. Navigate to - C:\AMD\AMD_Catalyst_11.4_Preview_Win7_March7\Packages\Apps\CCC2
- If you do not have the folder just run the driver installer again and close it after it extracts.
5. You should see a bunch of folders now. You will want to open each one and run the installer for each package.
6. If you have 64 bit windows ONLY install the 64 bit package. If you have 32 bit windows ONLY install the 32 bit packages. So, Fuel64, and Utility64 for 64 bit and for 32 bit Fuel and Utility.
7. Reboot
8. CCC should now open and work fine.
 
Why are you doing things the hard way? Just install over the old and keep on going.

Never had an issue doing it this way :confused:
 
Hmm, is that how it's supposed to be done? Too late now, hehe. Back in the day, this was the procedure to be followed. Seems that things have changed...

It's how you should do it according to ATI. Minus the use of driver sweeper as that causes more problems then good.
 
When I go to Control Panel to uninstall, there is no mention of CCC. All I see is HydraVision and AMD APP SDK. I went ahead and uninstalled those, deleted all ATI program files, and ran driver cleaner. I'll try it again from a fresh install of the package.
 
-just installed it again from package -- custom installation with CIM, APP SDK, and HydraVision. rebooted.
-in Control Panel under uninstall, all I see is APP SDK and HydraVision. wtf... there's no mention of CCC or actual drivers anywhere.
 
You need to stop using driver cleaner. It deletes files it shouldn't.

You might have to repair windows now.
 
I remember I got it working before, from this same situation... I'll try to restore to pre-11.4 state and see what happens.
 
ok, restored and got it back to 11.2. I just tried running the installer as jbean suggested and it tells me everything is up to date. what's the right way to go about this? simply uninstall, reboot, install?

edit: just tried that, no dice. same issue. there is no CCC or display driver included in the 11.4 update that I downloaded, all it mentions is this SDK and hydravision...

I would, but BC2 keeps crashing every 20 mins. This update is supposed to help.
 
did you re-download the 11.4 preview drivers from the link that i provided? that's where i got mine from and it installed without any issues.
i uninstalled 11.2, rebooted, installed 11.4 and rebooted again.

edit: i also suggest deleting everything in your temp directory: c:\users\<user-name>\appdata\local\temp\ before you try re-installing the 11.4 drivers.
 
I just redownloaded, uninstalled, cleared temp, and rebooted. After extracting and running, all I see at the install screen is app profiles, install manager, sdk runtime, C+, and hydravision... no dice :(

Sure, that's what Nvidia claims too but doing it that way I ended up with 4 entries for Nvidia HD audio in device manager and no actual working audio at all. That was after doing multiple Nvidia driver installs and it completely borked my sound drivers. Now I use the option to do a clean install and uncheck the HD audio option. That works perfectly every time. I know that is Nvidia and this is ATI but on ATI I use the Express clean driver uninstaller first always before installing new drivers because my experience has shown me this is the best way to do it. I never use driver sweeper anymore though because it is just not needed, both Nvidia and ATI now have proper driver removal code.
