Well, not sure if they're related but I just installed the new drivers, rebooted, and now my computer hangs on the Starting Windows screen. Fan-fucking-tastic.

Did you install the RAID/AHCI drivers too? I had that issue with 11.2

I'm scared to install this...just got rid of, for now, the 99% usage @ idle bug (turns out, caused by FF 4 update).

.

Uh, not sure? How do I fix this?

Nevermind. It finally booted after sitting at that screen for five minutes. What the hell...

EDIT: So I installed the latest 11.4 preview version and this time it took over 10 minutes for PC to boot up. What the hell AMD?

Why do new drivers remind me of the Russian roulette scene from "The Deer Hunter"?

SO...1.3 >, <, or = to 1.4 preview....

looks like i'm gonna hold out, till I see more positive responses... or atleast wait for release notes...wtf!!?

Quick run in Crysis 2 SP looks about the same...maybe a few fps less but as luck would have it I just got to a huge open area level so that could easily make the difference....11.3 doesn't fix the crossfire issue...oh well....I did get input lag at first but this went away with a reboot, for me anyway..unless some issues turn up I will stay with 11.3 for now, whatever.

BTW...release notes from Blue's News forum:

Has anyone tried these with a 6990 yet? I am debating between upgrading or staying with the original 11.4 preview.

Interesting. If you go to the download page and select your card there is an option for HD6790. I didn't even know they were planning on making this. A google search says it is their answer to the Ti550.
Could be old news though.

Does either release fix the 99% GPU usage bug?

And no, I don't plan to turn off GPU utlization in firefox and chrome. That just makes it less likely to trigger anyway, it still bugs out after awhile.

The 11.4 preview driver is updated also.
The following components now have higher version numbers:
Driver packaging version
OpenGL version
Catalyst Control Center version

the '2d version' and 'direct3d version' remain the same.

Which version should 6990 owners use?

Mine hasn't...for me, it was directly due to FF 4.

notice some small improvements in DA2....man this game looks great w/ XFire 6970 :D

I run 2 monitors and so idle speed on my 5850 is 400/1000, but now with 11.3's when I open a 3D application instead of running at my 3D profile (900/1150) it downclocks to single monitor idle (157/300) causing tearing etc on both monitors (and the app eg BFBC2 opens in windowed mode). I use AB, and according to Unwinder who makes it he says this is a driver issue. Anyone else got it?

so any idea which is more stable? march 17 previews, these 29th previes or 11.3?

Same dilemma. The official 11.3 are still using the 11.2 profile package. I've been running the 3.17/11.4 previews without any issues. I might try out the 3.29/11.4 previews even though there are no "fixes" in it that would appear to effect me. No way in heck I'm going to 11.3 using the older 11.2 profiles.
