For AMD Radeon users, are you using 11.3 or 11.4 preview? I'm still at 11.2 and want to update mine. Thanks.

11.4 preview on my single 6950 @ 6970. No real issues. A couple of times after a reboot (and not the initial one, which makes it all the weirder) it has failed to initialize correctly -- horrible 3D performance, even in Aero -- but another reboot solves it every time. Don't know what's going on there. I did mess with 2D clocks when I flashed to unlock, so it might be that, could've gone too low. Granted, works fine 99% of the time.

11.4 preview is broken for me in 6970 crossfire. I've installed countless times and even went as far as to do two fresh W7 x64 installs with 11.4 and still they do not work.

Seems ok to me. Crossfire works for me, no problems. The only title that I continue to have problems with is Crysis 2.

been running perfectly on 11.4 previews for a while now with 6850 crossfire. No issues at all and good performance.

11.4p works fine for my 6970, never tried 11.3 as it came out later. It gave me a decent fps boost over 11.2, 5-10% usually.

Over on guru3d the 6000 series have had better luck with the 11.4 preview. Seems like the 5000 series guys run into more bugs. 11.4 preview on my 6970 is great.

I have no idea. I didn't have any problems installing 11.4 when I put my 6990 in last night, and it hasn't done anything weird yet. (Caveat: I did take care to uninstall all Catalyst drivers and application profiles beforehand, boot into safe mode, and run Driver Sweeper to clear out the chaff prior to the swapout and install.)

11.3 on a fresh install of Win 7 Pro, no issues.

What drivers are you guys using for your 6870. I'm at 11.2, stable, but not getting the performance I should be getting.

"Yes - the Catalyst 11.4 file from March 23 is the newest file, and I highly recommend using that driver."
-Andrew D @Twitter

It seems wise to use 11.4 unless you run into problems.

tried 11.4 (3/23 preview) performance gains are differently there, but I had stability issues, i.e...random BSOD's. went back to 11.3...rock solid

3 gaming computers at home, all with 11.4 and rock-stable.

Tri-Fire 6990+6970, Tri-Fire 5970+5870, 2X 4870 Crossfire. All working perfectly fine with 11.4.

Currently on the 11.3, I don't do previews or such - no issues here.

What's the secret guys? Like I mentioned before, went as far as doing TWO fresh W7 x64 installs with 11.4 and both times did not work!

Ok..so a member at XS.org recommended that I remove one of my cards, install 11.4 and then add my second card.

So I did that and this is what happened.

I installed 11.4 with one card.

Installed my second card with bridge and boot to Windows.

When I got to Windows, the screen remained dark as if the driver didn't load.

I waited a few minutes, screen still remained dark.

I shutdown the machine and rebooted.

Once restarted and Windows desktop loaded, ATI said that ther wasn't any driver installed!

So i installed 11.4 again.

Ran Lost Planet 2 bench and f*cking crossfire was STILL broken!!

WTF. Am I the only one that somehow has a full retard version of 11.4?!

I went back to 11.3, crossfire works fine!

I'm getting pissed....

I personally avoid Crossfire/SLI and haven't had problems with either company's drivers. Anyway, if 11.3 works fine just use that. It is the 'official' driver.

been running perfectly on 11.4 previews for a while now with 6850 crossfire. No issues at all and good performance.

Can you please give me a link for the 11.4 preview? cause i cant find it on the AMD site, I only have 11.3 atm

Thanks

So far I have a strange problem with 11.4 that I haven't experienced before. I may have fixed it recently but what happened was..

My system was BSOD'ing with a stop 0x000000124 which is a WHEA hardware crash. I rebooted and ran a full hardware diagnostic since I have access to alot of expensive equipment and software and everything passed. After booting back into windows I had complete slowdown at the desktop, applications were hanging etc.... including the task manager On a hunch I opened MSI afterburner and noticed GPU 2 was at Full usage, actually it showed a value of 200%. I hit reset and the usage came down. I closed afterburner and reopened it and noticed that my clocks were 0 and 0. I set everything back up and applied and have been fine ever since.

I think it's time for me to finalize my own custom bioses in RBE and flash them. I'm not sure if afterburner caused the gpu to run at full boar at the desktop or if it was a afterburner thing. Strange

I'm using 11.4 preview. My usage keeps spiking up to 97% ever since I upgraded to Firefox 4.

I thought that was the problem as well, I disabled hardware acceleration a few days ago but it hasn't changed.

REally? Thats odd... Never heard of that problem caused by anything else. Also- I don't have that problem and I'm using FF4 and I haven't even messed with the hw acceleration.

I like firefox 4 and use it, does nothing to my gpu usage unless of course I run a java/flash etc.. app. My usage stays within acceptable parameters. The problem I posted a little while ago was right after a fresh boot with nothing running. My gpu 2 usage was showing 200%

sounds to me like the driver didn't initialize properly... either that or MSI Afterburner was reading something wrong and trying to change fan speeds or force a clock speed change or something that wasn't working right.

fine on 5870's CF , never see the 99% GPU bug unless i use afterburner to push the clocks up. Using CCC to push clocks never causes this issue.

Hmm, I'm thinking about just using RBE to make a custom bios for the cards with fan profile and everything. Maybe using Afterburner just to monitor things and the OSD during gaming for monitoring. Now that RBE can let you make a bios to do it all in firmware I think afterburner and similar programs have worn out their use for these cards.

Well, I've reinstalled FF 3.6, and now my gpu usage is rock solid at 0, temperature stable at 35º, fan at 34%. I'd love to know if other people get these results with Firefox 4/6970, or is it jittery?

Been using the 11.4 drivers for a month now on my 6950 with no issues. Only weird thing is in BFBC2 where some things disappear and look white in the background.
