Catalyst 10.12, GPU usage 99% at idle

Okay so I installed them now I have 99% gpu usage at the desktop and it never goe's down. any thought's?
 
Is it actually 99% GPU usage or just a bug with what you're using to read the GPU usage?
Do you have anything like flash open in a browser, or a remote desktop client like NX in use?
 
My card does this with 11.1. Once I play a game and exit it, the GPU usage will always ready whatever % it was at when I closed the game. Aside from that, about 50% of the time the clocks do not return to 2D speeds or maybe that is not updating as well.

I think the % reporting is just fucked. These drivers are really underwhelming...
 
I only see 99% activity in catalyst when the driver is running at 500mhz and not 250. The reason for both of these (for me) is flash being GPU-accelerated in my web browser. Close the browser, back to 0%, and 250mhz (verified with mains power draw meter)
 
No it stays at that when even browser closes. Also It's not just a readout bug cause my GPU is like 60c and games are sluggish. I swear I should got Nvidia.
 
Just noticed which driver you installed. 10.12 is unusably bad, change to 10.10e or 10.12a.
 
why not go to 11.1a? Those drivers have fixed pretty much all of the problems with my 6850.
 
Wow im surprised this isn't bigger issue? Over at amd's forum's there's a decent size topic on this issue.
