i hate it when a driver is released right in the middle of testing, but i'm anxious to see the new overdrive temp readout stuff

"a card"? And what card would that be? ;)

are they a big improvement over the 3.10. im not having any problems with them so should i upgrade?

does it make anything better other than like games?

ATI seems to be better prepared with bandwidth nowadays too... maxed out my bandwidth at 250KB.

What made them decide on '4.1' instead of 3.11 or similar....?

its 4.1 because it is the first release in 2004

3.10 was the 10th release in 2003

its 2004 now

the 3 in 3.10 indicated 2003

so the 4 in 4.1 means 2004 and the start of this years new sequence of drivers

They redid some of the primary driver code. You've got to remember 3.8 and 3.10 where only released cause of major glichs. Where the last few updates have been really bug fixs. This is a real new driver set.

Just downloaded them. Will test them when I get home from work.

Installed em on my primary machine just now, no problems at all with installation, just plopped em right over the 3.10's.

You didn't even bother uninstalling the 3.10's?

If that works just fine for you kudos to ATi :D

Every time I have upgraded my computer with a new ATI driver I have never uninstalled the previous one, I have always just installed the new one right on top of the old.

What can I say, it works for me, I guess I did a good job setting up my computer in the first place ;)

Its not a good idea to do that. Its recommened that you uninstall previous versions first.. they even made an uninstaller to help people do that. A large reason why people have problems, they just keep piling drivers on top of each other, then whine when they have problems.
