I am running cat 6 instead of phone line from phone to modem. I need to crimp on a phone jack tip to the end of the cat 6, which wires should I crimp it on to? (This is for DSL.)

Well, I see no reason to run cat 6 for voice, because phone lines are run on cat-nothing cable for miles in the outside plant, and a few feet of highly twisted wire will make no difference in your speeds. That being said, the first pair of wires (white/blue and blue) is what you need to crimp your plug on.

When we built our house 3 yrs ago i had lan cabling to all the bedrooms, living room & study. They used the cat6 for the voice runs also. they said its cheaper to use same cable type instead of purchasing both cat6 & cat1. made sense.
