Haven't seen any posts around here on this camera, so I thought I'd get some thoughts about it.

Here's a link for some information:

Apparently allows for some kind of tremendous boost in speed. Up to 60fps full HD video clips, with a maximum shutter speed of 1/40000 of a second, which works out to 60 6MP shots every second, or up to 1200fps of a smaller video.

Expected retail is around $1000

I haven't had must experience with Casios in general...anyone know how they fare against Canon? I've used my Dads EOS 5D, but I can see this thing coming in handy for certain situations.

Interesting concept but "Full HD" is just a buzz word marketing departments are throwing around these days. 1920x1080 is impressive for a TV display but for a photograph it is only a 4"x6" (2M)

There is no comparison between this and a Canon 5D. Not even remotely

bump

A guy at work just got this (last week)..however is primary goal was a decent digital SLR + video. He goes to a lot of air shows, so being able to get full HD video is a pretty nice thing as well as being able to reasonably decent shots.

I think I would get some of the newer Sony SLR's before I got that. For a grand I could pick up a 30D and a MiniDV camcorder. But that is just me.

So wait... is the Casio EX-F1 a true SLR? Or just a fancy point and shoot?

It's a neat camera... but I'd like to know more about its video capabilities. I'm sure it shoots great video... but what kind of file format is it? Can you edit it?

This is a special function camera. I wouldn't expect it to do the job of other cameras better and the other cameras couldn't do what this does specially.

It's a neat toy though.

What could you possibly capture with an exposure time of 1/40000? Looking directly into the sun?
