I know many of us have been looking to buy pin removal tools since sleeving your power supply is fun but sometime exhausting. Well CaseArts took the guess work out of which extractors to buy and put 4 different designs in a kit. It's pretty cool and handy but I can't say the price is nice for the number of times a person would use it. Here linkage over at frozenCPU:

Wow, that's a pretty nasty price. I paid maybe 20 bucks altogether between the ATX pin removal tool and a molex extractor with both male/female ends to it.

I tried a universal molex extractor before, but quite frankly it sucked. Squeezed the female wings too tight, mashing the pins down, and didn't compress the wings on the male pins enough, causing them to be destroyed in removal

I can't wait until modular psu's are the standard :(

Yes, if for no other reason, just so I can get rid of that stupid 1/2 AT connector left-over from the socket 423 days :(

Speaking of power supplies..........they're a joke. They haven't had one single update in technology over the last decade. The connectors, wiring, etc need to be updated and not so bulky. The insides, well, who cares about that. I just want the connectors updated.

Cut the bitch off.....I've never left that pain in the ass thing on any of my PSU's. Most ppl wouldn't do something so brutal because they're scared of having to RMA the PSU or something.....but w/e.....I really could care less, the thing is such a pain in the ass. You could also get a little more creative and just unsolder it from the board inside the PSU. Of course, openning the PSU and breaking that stupid ass sticker is gonna void your warranty just the same. :p

I paid 4 dollars for a molex extractor at Radio Shack and it works perfectly.

However, I also bought not one, but two ATX extractors for under 10 bucks apiece and both of them broke. I swear to God, there is nothing more irritating than having like, 4 pins to go on your ATX and *SNAP* .

You get what you pay for bro....even with something like this. Only thing I've ever bought at RadioShack for my computer is my soldering iron and solder.....cus it was the exact same as what i was gonna get elsewhere. I generally don't spend a lot of time 'roud the shack unless its for stuff that i KNOW is gonna be fine like pots or solder or something. :p

Just have to be extra careful with those ATX extractors.... they are by far the easiest to break, and many sites have a disclaimer about returns, lol

I ziptie mine up and put it in the case of the psu and if this fails it gets the snip

Pssst....

I'm a girl. ;)

The tool I got from Radio Shack works great, it's not the one that broke. I got the ATX tools from performance-pcs.com
