Hi my friends,

Im building a new computer for my girlfriend, and i was wondering if it was safe to put an
-enermax 350w PSU
-9800XT
-a64 3000+ @stock cooling

in a standart ATK case, with no side panel fan, no fan at all, just the fan of the PSU and the heatsink of my cpu and gpu.

Will it be too hot ????? or i have to add some intake fan and outake ?

Please help me.

BTW, is 350W is enough for

1dvd reader
1cdr burner
1hdisk
1 ati radeon 9800XT
1 stock heatsink amd 64 3000+

THANKS!

With an older, slower system, I would say yes. With near top of the line components, I wouldn't risk it. I would get at least one intake and exhaust, maybe 2 of each to be safe (get quiet fans, like some Papst or Panaflow's)

The fan in the PSU alone won't be enough to remove all the hot air from the case, and with that kind of equipment putting out so much heat, it would probably overheat while gaming or doing anything much more than idling.

Edit: 350W SHOULD power that system, assuming you are using a quality 350W PSU. Once again, I would be on the safe side and go for a 400W+ PSU - skimping on the PSU will cause nothing but problems

I wouldn't advise it. I had an older system without any case fans, but it was just a 1.2GHz Celeron and a Geforce 5200, and it ran fine for the entire two years I used it. But with the kind of components you've got, I just wouldn't risk not having any fans in there.

350W is fine

9800XT? I think that's a horrible buy but whatever

if u do use one fan make sure its an exhaust and not an intake

if you dont want fans you should invest in a better heatsink

I thikn if u get a better heatsink/fan than the stock one you'll be fine without a fan

Why not just get two really quiet 120mm fans? The Panaflo or Silenx's push well over 60cfm and are both under 18dba (which is like 10dba less than a whisper at 1 foot), so they would be pretty quiet. One in the front bottom to pull cool air into the case, one behind the cpu to push the hot air out. With fans under 18dba you'll hear the HDD's and DVD drives way more than the fans anyway.

Oh, do yourself a favor and get a larger HS with a quieter fan, like a Zalman CU or ALCU, Thermaltake 120 etc, change the stock cooler on the 9800 pro also, an Iceberg 4 or VC-RE will both work and are both under 20dba...That way you can worry less about the case fans.
