can you guys help me with my first case selection, i've been searching about a month but still hopeless, I would like it to have abequate cooling and also to have front or top audio, firewire, and usb ports. Prefer black w/ side window. This would be for my dfi lanparty ut nf4 ultra-d. Budget is $130 - $200. Thanks
 
Go here and pick out the case of your dreams. You can get an awful lot of case for that kind of money in a Lian-Li. You might want to avoid the V series cases though until we find out what the skinny is on the recent problems. The PC-6xx series cases would certainly fit your requirements and budget even with a window.
 
For that price you might think of just getting a good old break your wallet and never have money again Lian Li, or if your looking for a good case and a good price go with the Antec SuperLANboy or P160...WooT killer nice cases and kicka$$ prices
 
Buy a coolermaster stacker. Its sorta black (well its silver with black accents) has a nice big window, friggin awesome cooling and front usb/audio ports that you can have at the top or at the bottom of the case. Can hold 11ide drives or 12hdds + 2cd drives so you wont have to worry bout space.

Can hold 2 PSUs, any size mobo.

List goes on, buy a stacker :)

I'm gonna have to recommend you stay away from the super lanboy case. They're really small, terribly flimsy and a bitch to work in. All the other antec cases are nice, but the lanboy just seems too cheaply made.
 
Lian Li = No Go.

I would go with the CoolerMaster Stacker or the Black CM Praetorian with the optional window.

Personally, I have an Antec P160....Its not black, and it doesn't have a window (but i believe a windowed side panel is available), but its well built, lightweight, and quiet.

Yeah go Antec killer nice cases, I have a friend with the p160 and he has the window on it all from: NEWEGG and he loves it to death, I dont think he would trade it in for anything, in other words he brags about it all the time... :D

PS the P180 is coming out soooon, look out for it and check out the review, search GOOGLE

I would go with the Cooler Master Praetorian. I just bought the black one along with a side panel window for it and it looks great.

IMO Cooler Master cases look nicer and are better built then Lian-Li cases. Cooler Master has the best motherboard trays for sure.

I think the mid-tower Lian-Li V-series cases are crap. The compartments are restrictive and so is the airflow. The wheels look gay and so does the front. They require long cables to reach all the components because the HDDs are down below in the front of the case. Cable management is a nightmare.

I like Lian-Li, especially their older PC-60 and PC-70 series cases but i wouldn't consider buying one of the new V-series.
 
Performance PCs has the new Lian Li PC7B Plus for $114.95 + shipping. Has everything you want. F & R 120mm fans, Front ports: (2) USB, (1) firewire port. Mic, Headphone plug and side window. Only negative is no removebale motherboard tray. Build quality of LL is excellent, and the new Plus cases w / 120 mm fans eliminates the negative aspect of small nosiy fans. Note that Newegg has the 7B +, BUT their version is slightly older and does not have the rear 120mm fan. Trust me, you want F & R 120mm fans.

Performance PCs will even pre-mod the case to your hearts desire, for extra cost of course. I've done business with them, and they are a very good company.
 
any other suggestions, is there anything coming down the pipeline within the next 2 month's(march /april).But so far it look's like the stacker by cooler master, And if I do go with the stacker will it be stable on one of those cpu shelves that hangs off the side of your desk.

I recently bought a pre-modded Lian Li V1200B w/window. Lian Li shorted me on the HDD Fixed Screws, which are a special screw needed for their quick disconnect HDD drives, and Performance-PC made good very rapidly. They do a very nice mod and have excellent customer service. I visited their shop in Florida and they run a neat, well run, HAPPY shop. Any case you select from them will be supported and they can give you good advise because they are honest. I would be careful about the Lian Li V series because of QC problems, but I have contacted the manufacturer directly and they are getting on top of that problem. Also, if you need documentation. do not count on getting much from Lian Li. If you are very experienced and have patience you CAN figure everything out, but if you are in a rush and new to the MOBO ranks, be cautious and make sure that you will get lets of support. I do not know about the documentation with other cases. Have fun!

How much stuff are you planning to put into the case? The Cooler Master Stacker is huge and normal people would be better off with a Wavemaster or Praetorian unless you were going for an elaborate watercooling solution or planning to install lots of hard drives.

With regard to those special screws required in the Lian Li 1200 case (see previous post from me in this thread). Not only did I get the required screws from my resller, Performmace-PC, but also from Lian Li via registered mail from Tiawan, and JCL in CA by regular mail. I think that these companies deserve our business fro coming through!.

I agree, though I don't like any Lian Li cases at all. I think they are cheap, boring, uninspired, and overpriced. I like CoolerMaster Praetorians a lot.
