So I'm in the market for a new case, as I think I've outgrown my Antec Super Lanboy (cries), and I've been interested in picking up a 900 since I first saw one. I'm curious what the major differences are between the 900 and follow-up, 902 (besides the obvious black interior of the 902).

Thanks.

Don't get the 900 or 902.

Get the PC-K62, much better bang for buck and it's cheaper then the 902 I believe.

Booo, misleading thread title. I was hoping for a show down...

If it's between the two, no question, the 902.

In the beginning, there was the Antec 900. And it was a dandy mid-tower for airflow and a design somewhere above basic box without going into godawful 1950's scifi reject territory. Fantastic air-cooling basic starting point. Not everyone was a fan, it's a rather love it or hate it case, but it had a nicely established niche.

Then we all realized the thing's aggressive air circulation made it a bloody hoover for dust.

And those of us not wanting to break out the dremel realized the cable management options were abysmal. And even if you did decide to cut some holes, you found that the near nonexistent clearance between the MB panel and the removable back panel still made cable management painful.

Along came the 1200, which expanded the basic design into a full tower and added removable filters to the intake fans, and redesigned the chassis a bit to allow for something resembling proper cable management without heavy modification with a selection of routing holes and greater clearance behind the motherboard panel. And it was good.

But not everyone wants/needs a full tower, and so they took the revisions from the 1200 and scaled them back down to a mid, and the 902 was born.

There are zero reasons to get a 900 over a 902. Even if for some reason you want back the very small amount of airflow that the filters resist, just take out the fans and enjoy the worlds-better cable management of the 902 (compared to the 900).

Get the newer, better 902.

I had the original 900 and it was a PITA with cable management. Horrible. When I tried modding it, it didn't turn out very well because the motherboard tray was very thick and very little clearance behind it.

I'd go with this. I ordered a 902 last week - and sent it back to Amazon the next day. Really wasn't impressed with it at all - my Antec 300 seemed a better thought out and executed case (for half the price).

Can't really go wrong with Lian Li - one of the reviews listed is from a 900 owner.

Thanks guys, especially Combat.

I've been doing a bit of research since posting and found out a majority of this info.

I'm starting to actually look more at the P183 and the Cooler Master Cosmos S.

I was in a similar situation as you, but decided to get the CM Storm Scout. It is a great case to work with and dropped my temps 20-30C from my old case.

The Nine Hundred Two is a mini Twelve Hundred (which I'm using), so I know I'll like it. It'll probably be the next case I get, as I hope to downsize since I'm building a WHS box eventually. No need for a giant tower when all my HDDs will be in another box.

The Lian-Li seems quite similar, but it isn't that much cheaper. I'd rather have the one 200m fan on top than multiple fans making more noise.

Just because it has a bigger fan doesn't mean it'll move more air.
