so ive been doing some research lately, but I wanted to get some outside advice. im looking to build myself a new system and want a good looking case that im able to use for years, have some fun with and keep for rebuilds. I dont have a budget, I know first hand that you cant cheap out on a case when you're building a high quality system... so here's what ive been considering

antec series performance cases P183/ Mini 180 as well as some of the antec gaming serie cases

Lian Li cases... mid and full tower

not looking for anything flashy with LED lights or anything blinking...

I know that good cooling is a must, dont know if I want a window or solid panel... I guess ill have to see what everyone recommends.

How about the corsair obsidian. Nice solid all black not flashy case. Are you water or air cooling? You could into some silverstones too.
 
I do like that case, but ive pretty well at least narrowed it down the either Lian li or Antec.... I dunno, is watercooling worth it?
 
ATCS 840. Yeah, not what you wanted to hear.

Lian Li A70/G70/whatever 70xx series. Preferably A70B or F? Or Rocketfish. G70 and Rocketfish are ideal modders' cases, stock cooling is not truly spectacular like some bling cases that cram fans into every square inch.

Mini P180 is microATX case not capable to taking normal ATX mobos and has also still less space for HDDs if you have any high end graphics card...
So probably not much any future/rebuild value unless you know you'll be aiming toward small HTPC style than high end gaming/worstation PC.
(regardless small cases are never fun to work with)

If you're into that high end with long graphics cards and not certain/growing number of 3.5"/5.25" devices Lian Li A71B/FB would be one of the most spacious cases and also makes looks of current Antec P-serie look like child toys. (also one of the Lian Li's cheapest full towers)

While relatively thick acrylic is acoustically better than single layer metal sheet you can't put any damping material to it.
Also open front makes anything else acoustically irrelevant.
So if it's important for case to have any kind potential for silencing then skip cheese graters and open fronted cases.

OLd PC-G70's cooling design isn't well thought and hard HDD mounting is noisy.
In PC-A7x10 you'll pay extra for acoustically worser and not much more usefull HDD mounting than in original and 7110's stupidly designed door leaks noise straight out. (and Akasa crapmat isn't any soundproofing but just hindrance for installing working stuff)
So A70/71 is where features meet the price.
 
thanks for all the recommendations fellas! I think ive made my decision and going for the Antec P183
( yah/nah ) ive been looking into all the possibilities for everything and that seems to be the best option, for what I want, at the best price, and more then enough cooling ( 5 spaces for 120mm case fans ) im sure thats more then enough... lets have some input though!

When I bought this, about two years ago, CoolerMaster had a rebate deal of $100, so it was really hard to pass up. Performance did a real nice job on the window and installed some different fans for me on the side.:D
 
hahaha! WOWZAAAAA Thermaltake level 10 is right.... i highly doubt id even consider that monstrosity... 849? thats my whole system right thurrr:eek: and personally... im thinking that if I get high end hardware.. i'm gonna want to show it off with a window panel... decision decision

haha I guess its all up to me on what I want with my case... its all personal prefference... thanks for all the assistance! ill post my system once I get it up and running:)
 
Wow that thermal take is insane.. looks complicated. if i had 850 bucks to just throw away like that id get it in test it, who knows maybe ill get my hands on it, in about i dont know... 10 years??

if you havent chosen/bought yet, i would seriously reccomend the Antec 1200...great cooling, decent looks(i personally like it, but its a bit dull time for modding :p), and lots of space,
 
I do like the look of the 1200... but im just not one for the LED lights... although I suppose I could swap them out??
 
Really? A HAF922/923 has a ton of space, especially for the 5970 card. However have fun with your new case and don't forget to post us some screens.
 
The Lian Li PC-A71x series are good. Just keep in mind the newer PC-A71F does not have a removable motherboard tray. If you want that, you should get the earlier PC-A71x model. Check the reviews online :]
