What do you use to plan out a custom case? I have a hard time beliving you use paint

Oh, and just a stupid question: What are the dimentions of a cd drive?

And one last question: What's a good plastic or plastic like material that's easy to find that I could use?

if you want to build the case from scratch like many are doing, use sketchup

if you have a cd drive, measure it, but depth will be different on every drive

color? thickness? plexi? or not?

i use sketchup always it is superior. just google it, its free now from google and there are computer component models available

Maybe I'm old fashioned but I've tried Sketchup and it is easy but I prefer the paper and pencil way. Maybe it's my carpal tunnel keeping me from using the comp too much also.

But ya if you're new to case building, definitely follow what Dark said, sketchup is the way.

Im the same way, my brain doesnt work unless I can sit down and draw the shit out.Sketchup is nice (once you learn how to use it), but I still prefer to rough things out on paper.

Yeah, I ran into to sketchUp coinciedentaly whist looking for somthing else about two minutes after asking the qustion, It's unesisarily difficult to navigate the screen, but it gets the job done.

And about the material: I need any kind of plasic thats easy to find and easy to cut, same with the metal
