I just created a thread of this topic, but I forgot to put up the poll. It will be much easier to get an opinion if all people have to do is click on a button... ;)
 
After everything is totally stable, and I know I wont have to get into it anymore for clearing the CMOS and moving stuff, case is on, closed all the way
 
Well you see that doesn't make snese to me to stabilize your system with your side cover off. The difference between having the cover on and off is the fact that prime does not fail. It will do 24+ hours with the side off, and when I put it on, 4 hours at most. The temp increases are large. I have a nice air conditioned room in which I run my two computers in the sign. When the room temps are over 75, things start to fail.
 
wat does a ghetto modded cardboard side panel with a 120mm side fan and window fall under? :p
 
Right now I have to have side open when playing games because my system heats up. The ambient temps when running at load cause video artifacts. I could lower my OC but I'd rather find a way to incase case flow then lose the OC.
 
my case is open. its too small to fit watercooling inside of it, so i have the front panel off allowing the tubing to go from blocks to outer pump and radiator.
 
Closed all the way, if open the side the airflow in my chassis changes so the CPU & CPU get hotter than they would sides on.
 
my case is always closed unless I'm doing some upgrading or changing things around (which by the way is pretty damn often :D ).
 
Depends:

I smoke in my PC room so i have the window open during winter and summer here in Montreal.

Summer: Case open

Winter: case closed

I dust and thoroughly clean my case every 2-3 weeks so dust isn't a "big" issue.
 
Up until last night mine was open 24/7. Not so much for temp. issues, but just due to the fact that it looked pretty bland and I never got around to doing any modding. I decided to put the side on last night just to see if my temps would rise any and they didn't rise much, if any at all, so I just left it on.
 
I prefer the side panels on but I can see why one would take them off during gaming on a hot afternoon. As for testing, I always leave the side panel on to reflect everday use. I don't have to worry about reaching CMOS jumper thanks to my uGuru panel. :cool:
