Mods if this is in the wrong spot please move it.

Kind of a dumb question but is it ok to put a all metal case with out feet on a carpeted floor with it getting static charge and messing something up the reason I ask is ive always had mine on top of my desk and was gonna put it on the floor but my friend said wouldnt be a good idea.

Would it be ok?

The computer is grounded through the power cord ground from the wall socket, you won't have any problems with ESD unless you go out of your way to make a static charge. I keep mine on the floor (carpeted) and have never had a problem so far.

I run my comps on the floor right now. The only problem is if you don't clean your computer on a regular basis its going to get very very dirty. My friend looked through my comp window the other day and said wow its snowing dust in your computer. I right about shit my pants till i saw it myself.

Right, so nothing to worry about except for all the dirt and bunnies, itll be alot better there hopefully and free alot of desk space. :D

Yep shouldn't be a problem all the PCs here at work are on the floor with carpet.
But if you want a little security you can get a small stand that is like half an foot or a little higer off the floor. I remember picking one up at the mall once for like 15 bucks. Gets it just barely off the floor, and can even add to some asthetic depending on where it's placed.
