I havnt done anything case mod related in about 5 years, and im thinking about a revival.
now my original work wasnt anything spectacular, i tried to focus on the useful.
Here is waht i have to work with. I am trying to go for the oldschool look, beige, beige, beige. What i want is some sort of feedback on what might be cool. I am an technoligist by trade ( = creativity - 0, technical get-er done 100) so i need all the help i can get in the idea department. Here are a couple pics of the two old cases i have. I went back to the old cases after I dabbled into SFF world, and it pissed me off so much, i like having room to take my hardware apart when stuff breaks down or when i upgrade things. I shouldnt have to spend an hour swearing at my HDD cage because it doesnt want to fit into my case with the power cables attached (and i have small hands).
my first and only "real" case mod. 3 fans, 3 switches, 3leds
It has spent some time in the closet, originally it was home to a good ol, 300A, moved on to a 600 coppermine, then a 650 athlon, that 650 became a 950 (thank you GFD) stayed that way for about 2 years, then it was retired. now im running some "newer" hardware, but still want it to have that "oldschool" looks like it could be AT look.
those three led's are dual colour, and the switches are 3way, up for high (leds red) middle for off (led off) down for low (fans at half speed and led's green).
I also have one other case (the one currently housing my hardware)
It is a sort of clean slate so i could start from scratch so to speak.
this is it.
Now what im thinking is first off, add front USB, I already have the required connectors (came with my mobo, only made for a rear slot, easily remidied) i never use front audio so it wouldnt be usefull, it would only make my case look too "new".
also i dont have firwire on my mobo, but i am thinking about buying a fireware card with front connectors. If i do this i might buy a 3.5" drive thingy with usb and firewire connectors and simply add it. where to go from there I am so open for suggestions. have dremel, have time, have some skill. need suggestions.
also, im willing to start a pool on what you think is on that floppy in the first case. I havnt used a floppy disk in over 2 years. My first guess is a windows 98 boot disk, (what else did people use them for after cd-r's?). but who knows.
