I will be modding a blowhole on the top panel and cutting out the case's stock fan grills in this case and i just have a few concerns..

1: What can i do to make sure that the case actually has a working power switch and led's?

2: what precautions should i take while modding the case? Should i take the side panels, front bezel and the wires off when modding?

3: How am i supposed to clean all the metal debris out of the inside of the case?
thanks

Do you mean the fan on the side? Not sure where you want to cut the 'blowhole'

As for your questions

#1 Hook up a psu and motherboard and try it out.

#2 If your doing the side panel, remove it to cut, I always tape the area around where I cut so I can draw the exact shape I want

#3 Vacumm Cleaner

1) Read the manual that came with the case and the motherboard. The case manual will have brief descriptions of what each of your LED and switch cables do and where they are supposed to go. The mobo manual will show you where to plug these contraptions in and where the "pin 1" is for each header. If you plug something in and it doesn't light up or switch on when powered up then you have it plugged in wrong. I usually always plug the "Power LED" in wrong every time, no matter what mobo/case configuration I'm working with. Just turn the header around and see if that works, if it doesn't then move it down a pin. Rinse and repeat as neccessary.

2) I would take all the panels off to be sure I didn't scrath the paint on anything by tipping it or dropping something on it while making the cut.

3) I highly recommend a can or two of compressed air for blowing all the crap out. You could also vacuum it out if you want.

Good luck.

1. Why wouldn't it have a power switch & leds ???

2. dremel, goggles, pencil, and maybe some tape.

3. Can of compressed air ?!

its all common sence stuff like Qtip said....

Before you go cutting blowholes all willy-nilly, read: http://www.short-media.com/review.php?r=230

Unfortunately, they leave out the cfm of the fans they used, and they didn't seem to block off unused openings in the case (fans that were turned off etc), but there's still some good info there.

Bottom line: Why do you want a blowhole? to look kewl or for your computer to be cool?

If you actually want your computer to be cool, you should test it in the stock configuration first, then determine where additional fans are needed.

But if you want the case mod version of The Fast and the Furious, then add fans wherever you want.

1: What can i do to make sure that the case actually has a working power switch and led's?
-uhh.. put two AA or AAA batteries together and see if it works?... or take a multimeter and test the ends of the switches and the ends of the LEDs

2: what precautions should i take while modding the case? Should i take the side panels, front bezel and the wires off when modding?
-remove or cover as much as you can when you work on one part.. meaning when your cutting a blowhole, take off all the parts you can and try to keep the part your workin on as simple as possible... meaning, if you're working on the side panel, maybe take it off its sides?... and keep it away from computer parts like motheboards, etc... you wouldnt want metal pieces to short something out

3: How am i supposed to clean all the metal debris out of the inside of the case? use a vacuum cleaner as said above and/or also use a can of compressed air as mentioned above too.... i would wash the case... take it outside, remove computer parts, and hose it down :D doing this all outside is a good idea too to keep your house nice and clean

Just to make sure you don't trash anything. Remove everything from the case before you start working. I alway wash mine under the waterhose after modding, and the hit it with an air-gun.
