Ok. Here's a picture before.

Also if you notice in the back I used my flat ide cables to hide all the cables running up and down next to the motherboard. I know it's not the cleanest by far but a lot better than before. And it dropped my CPU Idle temps from 114 F down to 98 F. Incredible! I know you can still see some cables dangling around but the only way to get rid of those would be to drill holes into my harddrive or cd-rom cages so I can poke the wires through.

And this is how I did it. I bought molex extensions from SVC.com and just routed all my power cables to the back of my motherboard tray and used
Command Strips to help wrap and route my cables. Command strips are adhesives from 3M that can be removed easily without leaving any marks behind. And just extended the wires to "pop out" whever I needed power.

Looks pretty good. Though removing an IDE device (cd drive?) probably helped a bit with the cable management. Where did you hide all the round ide cables to keep them out of the way? Assuming one hd, 2 cd, one floppy in the 'after' pic?

Did you have to take the molex connectors off to put those split looms on? They look a bit looser than normal cable sleeving, but it looks good. I had been looking at the Flexo Wrap sleeving since it didn't require removing the molex connectors.

I have my wires in wireloom and it sucks that I dont have a window to see them :D

also if you want your HD area to look a lot cleaner, you can remove your case's face, and then put the hard drives backwards, so the cables are facing the front of the pc instead of the back... dunno if that made any sence rofl ;)
 
Good article jwill. I actually pulled all the pins out of my PSU-mobo ATX connector so I could run that bundle of wires behind the mobo tray. It was a bit tedious (especially since I was using a small screwdriver to remove the pins) but the end result was worth it. I also soldered up extensions for all my case LEDs and power button connectors so I could run them behind my mobo tray. The only stuff I have not been able to hide yet is my USB mobo cables which sit on the bottom of my case. I ended up partially hiding them behind some watercooling hose. I am toying around with making an aluminum tray similar to a mobo tray to mount to the floor of my case. Basically it would be a false floor.

-EDIT- Aww crap, I just went back and read the rest of that article. I guess my false floor idea isn't new after all. :)

the Rounded cable for the harddrives were folded in towards the front so it's hidden in the cage. For the Powersupply i used Split Looms, so i didn't need to take the molex connections off. I used zip ties to tighten it and most of it is hidden and wrapped away on the top of my case.

Yea i ran a bit short on that wire and I ran out of the 3 pin to 3 pin adapters.
 
^^ he did a good job.... But sometimes people like to pull apart their pcs...... and you would have to pull the PSU out with that set up going though the mobo and stuff.... At least with the 9700Pro... sure you can unplug it.

But once its unplugged how do you pull your mobo out. you got a gigantic floppy connector there.
 
Yea. THere is definately a limit to how tidy a case can be before it becomes neurotic. When you start drilling holes in your motherboard or video card or heatsink just to route a cable wire around that's excessive. one or two stray cable wires won't kill you. If anything wrap it up in a heatshrink tube and make it UV if you have uV lights or black if you don't want it to be seen as well. I think I'm pretty content with how it turned out for now. My computer is at that stage where it's due for an upgrade in the next 6 months so any work I do now will be in vain.
 
Im gonna be buying one of those modular PSU's so I don't have wires I have no use for. That saves me the assache of drilling holes in my mobo panel.
 
you know i never found out... what is that 2 character led on your mobo... i think it says FF

Is that like a readout telling your if you have any errors?

Those are common on Epox motherboards and yes they are for diagnostics. They can be used in conjunction with Motherboard Monitor to display temps also.

BTW Seizure, sweet job on the cleanup there, looking good.
