I have the Corsair XMS ram with the led activity meters and I want to try to use fiber optics to transport the light to a 5 1/4 drive bay. My case doesn't have a window so I can't see the leds. This would sort of be like a hard drive ligth I guess but somewhat more useful in certain situations. I was wondering if anyone knows where to buy plastic fiber optic strands relatively cheap? I would probably need quite a few, like a couple for each led.

Ideally I'd like to make a bracket that snaps on to the top of the ram which makes the ends of the fiber sit flush with the leds.

Do you guys think this would be a worthwhile mod?

Edit - spelling

i did this w/ my stealthed optical drives.

just go to a radio shack or even a target and buy audio optical cables used to send audio signals from DVD players to receivers.

cut them to length, and you can either use them sleeved or unsleeved.
