I was wondering if anyone had experience doing lighting in their case with LED strips? The ones that can be cut & with adhesive backing.

I am looking to get some Amber & Green colored ones. Does anyone know a good place to purchase them for a reasonable price? I've searched many popular online retailers and they have the ones I'm looking for but the shipping is ridiculous.

Also, I live in DFW. Are there any places here locally that sell this type of equipment wholesale?

Sparkfun and Adafruit both sell various LED strips and other boards, as well as driver circuits. They're not exactly cheap, but not beyond reason I believe.

I've also seen multi-color LED strip packages on Amazon for ~$25-30 w/controller and PSU.

I would get these two:

The controller can be hooked directly into your PSU by splicing a fan molex connector, if you have a spare fan lying around. With RF, you can hide the controller away inside your case, which you can't do with IR controllers which require direct line of sight. Not to mention it has a sound sensor for when you want to show off to your friends.

I use the BitFenix Alchemy strips. Ordered mine from Amazon, but they are available at other retailers too - haven't found them in a brick&mortar store though.

They are adhesive strips, but I don't stick them down for my own use. I use one 30 cm strip and its plenty bright. They can also be daisy-chained if you need more, however, I don't know if they can be cut - I haven't tried anyway. Here's what mine looks like. Hope it helps.

Thank you for all the replies.

Performance PC's has the Bitfenix on sale. I'll probably go that route. That 300 LED roll looks pretty sweet too. At that price I just might have to buy that one for the living room :)
