Has anyone or any company ever considered making the case wired? Just like a house is wired and has sockets, a case should be wired and have sockets. Next to the HD cage, there should be 12v connector sockets. Near the other drives, more sockets...and so on. The fans should be integrated into the case with sockets. This will make the build MUCH neater, not only through the window, but also behind the mobo tray. You won't have to shove wires behind the mobo tray. Anyone with me? Anyone tried making something like this before?
 
Sounds like an awesome idea:) ,also its so annoying when people start mods then post them and dont finish or update them:mad:
 
I'd love having sata sockets near the Mobo go to HD's and CD/DVD drives (newish standard)...

LOL, I have been working on that very idea. My first comps had the wires soldered directly to the mobos. But I realized that was kind of a pain for the average modder. So I am working on a case with the wiring built into the case. Molex plugs built into the case next to each CD/Hdd slots.
That way all you need is short plugs(3 to 5") to connect each device. Also a few against the back (variable voltage)by the I/O for fans

My problem is I change cases more often than my socks. So I am trying to make a universal one that can be moved from case to case.
 
that new carbon fiber case has something like this. At least for power distribution.

That'll be a real challenge...:p

I really think an company like TT or Anetc should do this. Their companies pride themselves on innovation. Even Silverstone or Lian Li could, but it would be really hard to keep their minamalist style without putting wires behind the scene. However, any company to do it first would surely get a lot of interest.

I think the problem is that there are too many standards for each piece of hardware. Motherboards have 2-3 connectors. HD's and DVD/CD's have SCSI, SATA or IDE (and power). HD activity/Power/USB/Firewire/Audio ports are almost always located at the front/top of the case but always have 4-6 thick wires traveling all the way across the mobo...they could be wired inside the case. While floppys have their own thing, no one uses them any more so there is no need. I'd be happy with a case (and probably buy it if it looked okay) which has power and SATA wiring to the mobo CD and HD areas. That would save me a LOT of wiring mess!

Literally, it wouldn't be too hard to come out with a single case which incorporated the front panel, power and SATA into the case...would it?

P.S. I much prefer SATA CD/DVD drives to IDE drives.
