Hey there... I just purchased this (it was delivered today)

http://coolcases.com/cases/sr104_s_p1.html

This is one of the sweetest cases Ive ever touched.

Im going to be doing alot of awesome stuff to it, should be done in a week. Ill post a worklog of what Im doing on Saturday. =).

i like it. some paint, a few holes here and there.... and you got yourself a sexy case.

Ide rather have a biege computer than a black one. Black is so over used, I would rather have something thats original. I am painting this case though, no worries.

Im going to cut a bunch of stuff tomorow when I wake up, woohoo. All the drawing and planning is on the case right now.

All done... with what Im going to do now. =).

Will post pics tomorow... digicam is in my friends parents bedroom, and its late...

=).

Hopefully you all will like it, although I still have to work out a few quirks from where I made a few things temporary.

Friend's parents bedroom? Hmmm....wonder what else you've been tinkering with...:D Just kidding man.

Love to see pics of what you've done so far.

Any info on how to effectivly paint the inside and out perfectly? What type of paint, etc? Im painting it white on the outside, and a dark grey on the inside. (still thinking about the colors).

Im putting my system into the case now, hoping it all works with the cool shiz I did to the case. I want to tell ya, but only pics would do it justice.

LOL, I forgot to post this earlier...

While messing with wiring and testing out some stuff I was doing I electrocuted myself and I felt it shoot up my arm. My chest hurt for about 2 hours... I probably shouldve went to the hospital. haha... so everyone, DONT ever test anything with the wires exposed even if you feel like being lazy. =p

A few things I need to complete this mod to perfection that I cant seem to find.

Something to drill holes into steel with a dremel. I have one attachment, but it sucks ass, and I keep having to pay 15 bucks to buy the kit it comes with because you cant get it by itself.

A good way to reduce vibrations from HDDs and fans.

A way to "make" the cord that goes into the back of a PSU into a 90 degree angle. It sticks out too far and I need it to be about 1/4th the size it is. Anyone get what Im saying?... =p.

When I post pics then people can give suggestions on how to do a few things. Im just excited to finish this up, even though I know I wont be able to do any painting until next weekend due to lack of funds right now and no available time.

Awesome case! I've been looking around for a case to mod this summer, and this has everything I'm looking for! Thanks man!

By the cord that goes into the back of a PSU do you mean the power cord? If it is, then you can just buy one that has a right angle. My friend has one like that for his turntable.

Link to that psu cord? Will post pics in about 10 minutes. =)

Can anyone resize these pics and put them up with theforumisdown.com?

Download a program called Photographer's Power toys. (use google) It allows you to easily resize pictures and even adds a menu for it when you right click on your pictures. It's very easy to use and it's free too.

Alright, Im emailing him the pics now.

I dont have any plexi on the cutout on the side yet, its just bare. Also, the psu is "ghetto" rigged right now, will be bolted on this weekend. All of the wires will be shortened to the mod I did to my psu to make less clutter.

here are the pics...sorry it took so long i had school today.

Thanks alot for posting them! Long read, sorry... I got carried away and explained everything... lol.

Ok, like I said, ALL of the wires are messy. Everything is in working order and thats all I was really aiming for during last weekend. Now, this weekend I will have everything stripped out of the case and pictures will be taken of each thing individually sitting on the carpet, etc. Then when I assemble it all back together after cleaning up everything (and possibly painting it which would take a few days, Ill take pics of the assembly in progress.

Here is what I did:

Used a level and the lid to a microwave container to draw the diagram for the maltese cross (which was used after a GREAT suggestion by Bonzanego, I was originally thinking something similar but different). I used my trusty corded 3500rpm dremel to cut it out. I cut it perfect, I had to do no sanding/grinding what-so-ever. It came out just the way I wanted it to.

Then I went to Lowes and picked up a few things, I got some screws and these weird nuts that look like studs... which were VERY expensive. 5 bucks for 5 of them... pissed me off. I bought 15, and I plan on getting about 10 more. I grabbed a sheet of plexi, and I grabbed some double sided tape to mount the surge protector on the inside.

I got home and proceeded to bend a few pieces in the 5 1/2 bays to slide my psu in there. Not knowing if it was going to work, I didnt bolt or drill any holes. I secured it with some zipties and ducktape (thank god for ducktape). I then got the shell of my old PSU with the piece intact that you plug the power cable into (I dont know what it is, will have pictures later). I cut the end connector off of the surge protector and bound the correct wires together to make the electricity flow throught he cable, into the piece of the old psu, and up into the surge protector. It works like a charm, just as if I hadnt done anything to it at all.

Next, I used this thing I had bought along time ago at Lowes in anticipation for this mod. It was made to be put onto a wall/next to the sink in a bathroom. It has two power plugs. I took the end of the piece I cut from the PSU wire, about 5 inches long, and I screwed them onto the wall outlet piece. After testing it the first time, and electrocuting myself (my chest has been hurting ever since) I had it finally wired up right. I wrapped it with electrical tape and made sure nothing was poking out.

I cut a hole into the top of my case above where the psu should be. It took forever because I couldnt figure out which side wasnt cut out enough for the piece to fit... but in the end I got a nice looking hole, which looks pretty clean. Later after its permanent Im going to fill in the tiny spaces with some kind of compound to give it a flush look.

Alright, now heres the end. I took everything and began to assemble it into the case. I stuck the surge protector onto the top of the case on the inside, screwed the psu case where it should go if it was a psu (surge protector connected to it). Screwed in the wall power plug piece... (what are these things called?). Plugged in that. Plugged in the psu. Fired it up. Works perfect.

I just made a sweet looking fanbus... I fabricated it from stuff I got at radio shack, and made my own wires for the fans. Ive never opened up a fan... but is it hard to get in there and solder on new wires? Or would It just be better to wrap them together and then electrical tape them? =)

Wrap together + Heatshrink + flexo cable to hide the Heatshrink and make it look nice. :)

Btw, nice looking mod so far. :) My mod is stuck in limbo =\ lol, anyways GL :)
