So after a few months, I finally have some sort of budget to make an awesome PC that will last for at least 2 years.
Specs:
CPU=Core 2 Quad Q9300
MB=Asus P5Q-E
RAM=A-Data 2GB DDR2-800 1x
HDD=WD6400AAKS
HDD2=Old WD2500AAKS
Optical=Samsung SH-S203N
Videocard=Old Sapphire X1550 512MB
Wireless Card=ASUS WL-138G V2
OS=Windows XP Pro SP3

On my computer, I design video games, code, do very very light gaming, write, browse the web, save lots of files, etc.

Now, all I need is a case. I've been looking at the Antec Sonata III 500 for its included
500W PSU and side-mounted HDD bays for additional easy storage, but will this case be large and cool enough for the above hardware? And if not, would anybody be able to suggest a good case (and PSU) from Here, here, or here?,

The Antec case with 500 watt PSU is a great deal. Buy.com has it on sale for $80 with no MIR and free shipping.

But will it be able to keep my P5Q-E, passive OC'd X1550, and several HDDs, cool?

Yes, it will do fine. So long as you have at least one intake and one exhaust, you won't have any heat issues with that system. There are cases with better cooling out there, but it's down to what you like.
