I'm looking at building a new system and I'm not quite sure which case I would like to get.I used to be crazy about lights (blue of course) and always had cases with side windows.... Now I just want a quiet case.

My first choice was going to be the antec P180. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811129154 )But, I have read a few problems about the sides being bent and tabs breaking off, besides that I would have to be very carefull which PSU I choose to use. Also, I think I am going for a case that doesn't have the front covered because I plan on putting either a Crystal Fontz in it or a Matrix Oribtal.

I'm now looking at possibly the Lian Li V1000B PLUS II. The only possible problems I see with it are the PSU again, and the CPU shroud. I was planning on using the Scythe Ninja on a Opty 165 and I wasn't sure if it would be too tall for the shroud. Does anyone know if it will fit?

Another case I was looking into was the Cooler Master Centurions. I don't like that they have an 80mm fan for an intake. I'd like to stay with 120's to keep the case quiet.

And last, the Thermal Take Armor (minus the metal folding door things). This case has 2 90mm fans which I'm not sure if they are very quiet or not.

If anyone has any opinions on these cases, or can suggest something else for me please let me know. Again, I'm going for a quiet case that looks nice. If it has a side window, thats a plus, but I don't really care about it anymore.

Something else that I need input on for each of these cases, are they easy to install water cooling components in? In the future I may decide to install water cooling and the easier it is to install the better.
 
120mm fans generally tend to be more quiet than 80mm fans. Also, the PSU and the HSF will add noise, so be sure to get a quiet PSU (Seasonic) and either an aftermarket HSF or even watercooling. The case won't make much of a difference with noise, but I would go with the P180 because its cool-looking and has only 120mm fans.
 
I know the 120's are quieter/move more air than the others, which is why I'm trying to only look at cases that use them extensively. As for the PSU it too will have a 120 in it, most likely I will be using the Antec TP-II 550. And for the CPU I will be using a Scythe Ninja with a 120 on it.
 
Nice case, but, like I said, I don't really want to have anything covering the front of the case because of a Matrix Orb Display I want to put in.
 
the armor case is very good the fan's are very quite, remember beside's the 120mm you also have 2 92mm fan's overall a good choice
 
if your on air cooling, i would highly recomend the NZXT Lexa its got fans up the wazoo, and in my opinion its modern. its not over the top. as for water cooling, its gonna be about the same cuz all these cases are.... atx(? whats the name of the mounting brackets something like that anyways)

im getting one for my new pc in a month (i hope but people keep not paying me :mad: )

edit: oh yea this one comes with a 500W powersupply, its an addtional $50, theres a $130 model here
 
gigabyte 3d aurora. 3 120mm fans that spin at less than 1000rpm. too quiet. i replaced the front intake fan with a 2500 rpm fan because my chipset temps were way too high. the hd cage is right between the intake and the mainboard, and positioned sideways, so it blocks most of the airflow. the version with the mesh on the side panel helps with this (mine has window). other than this, a great 100% aluminum case, very sturdy and roomy. the 2x120mm exhaust fans and the 2x2" gasketed holes on the back panel would make it perfect for watercooling with internal or external 2x120mm radiator.

"the aluminum myth". just think, those bastards at lian li had me convinced that their cases were quiet all these years, when they were actually really loud.
 
the huge lian cases are awsome but they are expensive as hell

i love my p180 tho and the fact of things breaking only happens if your doing something stupid, i boke one of the plastic fan things the first day i got it because i thaught you had to pull to take them off instead of pushing them in! GOD was i pissed.

and with your "problem" with an lcd in the front bays, thats not even a problem, jsut swing that door open! like this

and one of these days im going to find time to paint those drives

all i need to add to mine is an 80mm fan for the vga intake and then im going to cut a pieve of sheet metal for the door andfind a way to put it on the back of that door cuz its kinda flimsy
 
And thats exactly what i did. I ended up going with the Lian Li PC-V1000BPlus II Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case. Here are the rest of the parts that will be going inside:
