Case fan on the front?

How is a case fan supposed to draw air in from the front of the case? Theres the front cover covering the case front.

LOL??.. which case??... but in a general rule most case that have front cover have some ventilated holes arround the that front cover on sides and bottom.. just like the Fractal Desing R4 (as example).. where the fans take the cold air fron the sides...

Usually it gets drawn through whatever holes are present in the case. This includes any DVD drives, sockets for USB, headphones, etc., which means that over time you get dust and grunge buildup in these areas.

I finally had an epiphany one day and realized I didn't much care what the front of my case looked like; I used mostly the back panel connects and with some blue neon in the case I much preferred to look at the side.

So I ripped the front off the case and made up a frame to hold a 14x20 HEPA filter and 2 140mm fans to pull air in through the air filter blow it out the back (positive case pressure).

This accomplishes two things:
1) It works in tandem with the EVGA GTX 760 ACX which pulls air from the case and exhausts out the back
2) I NEVER have to clean the inside of the case. I removed my GTX 460 SSC and there wasn't a speck of dust on the fan or heat sink.

Having a single fan on the back means the air pressure in the case is negative and, if your video card is trying like hell to pull air in from the case, it's having to fight the case fan.

This is a Bad Thing.

ACX coolers do not exhaust out the back. Only blower-style coolers do that. Everything else I agree with. :)

If the case has a fan in the front, it was designed to allow air to be pulled in.
Some designs are better than others.;)

Fail, ACX coolers and others dual/Tri Fan configurations exhaust air of the back, but also drop some of the hot air into the case.. if you have an ACX evga card, put the fan in 50%at least and the hand in the rear of the card and u will feel the air.... the thing with the blower style coolers its that do not throw any amount of heat into the case like dual fans..

Yeah, like 10-15% of it.

not on the cards i've tested.. Msi Twin Frozr IV, Asus DCUII and EVGA Signature 2. setting the fan speed at 75% its more the air out in the rear than dumped into the case....
