I just finished my first build and cannot get the top audio ports to work. At first the usb ports wouldn't work either, but after unplugging them and plugging them back in to my mobo they worked fine. I tried that with my audio ports, but still doesn't work. Any tips on things to try? It has two different things that I can connect, ac 97 and HD Aduio, I have the HD audio in and it doesn't work, though I have tried both. Any help is appreciated. Gigabyte P35-DS3L and CM 690.

Ive been messing with it some more and still can't get it to work right. I don't have a way to test the mic port right now either. When I plug anything in, a little bubble pops up that says "you just unplugged a device from the audio jack", so it's obviously connecting, just the wrong way. Im pretty sure I have it plugged in right too because it seems like there is only one way for it to connect to the pins on my mobo. The audio from my mobo works just fine, just not the top port. any help??

Could you tell a little more about your situation?

Most Importantly tell us about the case and motherboard you are using.

Sorry, I should have made it more clear it the first post. I am using a gigabyte P35-DSL3 Rev2 and a CM 690. Thanks for the help.

When I plug anything into it, it flashes for a second like I actually plugged something into it. It says you have plugged something into the audio jack. Then it says, about 2 seconds later, you have unplugged a device from the audio jack. Its like it is detecting it, but then losing it immediately afterwards. What could cause this to happen?

you will want to compare the cable pin outs from the CM manual, and the pinouts for the header for the mobo. I assume that your audio cable from the top port ends in a block connector (as in not loose pins like most cases) in which case the pinouts just might not match up (not sure how standardized those pin outs are)

Also, check if the BIOS has an option that changes whether your mobo header is HD or AC97, and match that with the cable you're using.
