I am looking at upgrading an older Dell computer. These are the current specs:

P4 2.8b northwood core (533mhz fsb; s478)
dell/intel i865p mobo
2x256mb pc 2700 ddr ram
dell 250W power supply
120gb maxtor sata hdd

This is what I am looking to upgrade to:

Albatron PX915P4C Pro mobo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813170143)
2x512mb pc2700 or pc3200 (crucial value prob)
6800nu 128mb video card
OCZ 450w power supply

I have 2 questions:

1. Will the upgraded ram work with the old ram to fill up all 4 slots?
2. What would be a good case for this upgrade? (<$150 mid-tower)

1. It will work, but the system will probably default the memory speed to the slower speed.

2. Anything that will make you happy. In the hot deals thread we've seen some skyhawk aluminum cases going for $19.00 + S&H. Or you can hit the egg and run through their case section. Lots to chose from.

luck with the build.

Anything with 2x120mm fans will be good ;)
Try Thermaltake Tsunami/Soprano (that thing together with arctic ceramique reduced my tempratures by 10C from generic atx case) or one of centrurion 53x series cases
