Hi all, I recently became interested in Small Form Factor PC's. I have experience building PC's, but never SFF, and am currently trying to put together a list of all components needed. I am sure you've heard this question a thousand times, and I saw similar threads here, but I didn't see anything specifically mentioning two 5.25" bays, which is one of the requirements I have. Surprisingly, I've only found two or three models that have those - Venus 668, Soltek qbic and the Ultra/Acer/whatever other name it goes by. That one seems a little too large and umm... ugly to me, I'd love something as nice as the Soltek one except 200 watts is way too low. Is there anything I may have missed? Thanks in advance.

I don't think I want anything generic, I actually want to get as much power out of it as I can, and all those seem to be limited to two RAM slots. I would like one with four, up to 8 gigs, you know. I haven't even decided on the processor yet, for the same reason - seems pointless until you know what motherboard/case solution would work best. So - any mobo recommendations for the cases you guys listed? Sorta like a "best case scenario", if you were deciding on one for yourself now

The best (IMO) is either the Qmicra or SG01. I am big on engineering and ease of use though. The Qmicra is insanly easy to work on but costs a pretty penny ($300). The SG01 is a little harder to work on but looks nice and is sturdy. Qmicra has modding possibilities and a little more room while the SG01 has the front ports and cheap costs...and is made for the NT06.
If you want something cheaper, the Micro Fly is the way to go. The Aerocube, Micro Fly, Qpack, and JPAC all have the same basic internal design but the Micro Fly and JPAC are slightly longer for ease of use. The Aerocube is all aluminum though and has 3 fan controllers (not out yet though). Overall the Micro Fly is your best choice in the less costly case choices.
mATX will provide you with your 4 RAM slots.

The Lian Li is surprisingly attractive if not a bit weird, both it and the SG-01 are close runner-ups. I see the Lian Li might have problems with higher-end video cards, need to look deeper into that. On the other hand, the SG-01 doesn't have an external 3.5" bay.. decisions, decisions. I don't insist on a floppy, though a third hard drive might come in handy.

Especially the version with clear sides, ewww!If you are just going by looks than the SG01 is probably considered the best. I personally don't think looks should be too important because you 1) change them and 2) putting stuff in and out of the computer and cooling/noise is important when it comes to SFF...unless you like hard work

Well, if you just go by the features and ease of work I could just as well have stayed with my old mid-towers, but times change and if I am to put my comp on my desk with all the other nice things there I absolutely demand good looks. Which in itself doesn't eliminate the need for other preferred requirements such as easy access, etc. Ok, moving on to the source, hope to continue this discussion there.
