cascading SAS2 expanders

I had read it is a bad idea to cascade sas expanders. Is this still true with SAS2? Specifically I am interested in using an areca 1882ix with built in expander connected to Supermicro 846E16 expander backplane.

Also does anyone know if the 846E16 supports dual linking?
