Carpet?

Is it a bad idea to keep a computer directly on top of carpet, like so:

The only other option I really have is to move it inside the desk, but I'm concerned about heat issues. The back panel is pretty much wide open and I plan on taking the door off if I do so. How good of an idea would this be:

Carpet=bad in my opinion. Dust dirt and carpet fibers will find a way in your case really quickly. Move it into your desk, and heat will not be an issue with the door off.

The world will be a better place once this is done ;)
 
My desk is similar.

I took the door off. But this really worked.

I took a jigsaw and cut a giant hole on the inside of that computer space towards the back.(Where your feet are). Airflow AND access. Noone can really see it either. They build those computer spaces like you never need to get back there. :rolleyes:
