What's a good non-creative card around $100? I'm done with creative, no need to explain why.
 
If you are primarily playing games, what is the problem with Creative? Most complaints have to do with lack of or misrepresentation of "audiophile" features. I know the drivers are difficult, but it IS possible to get them working reasonably well. Unfortunately, Creative kind of have a monopoly in the gaming soundcard market, unless you are willing to give up on hardware accelerated 3D audio, EAX 3/4, etc.

Also, if you are seriously into FPS games, you are probably using headphones, and if there is ANY truth to the hype about the Creative X-Fi's headphone mode, you'll want one....

If you REALLY don't want Creative, you can search the forum for suggestions. It comes up a lot.
 
lol, I have an audigy2 nx which Creative has decided to ignore since it's not a "main stream" card. At least the zs version has had new drivers and now even beta drivers for a workaround. Mine- nothing, not a thing. BF2 doesnt even support the card so I have to run the game in software mode which is really annoying. I have Klipsch 5.1's (the square ones not the cheasy round ones) and sennheiser hd555 headphones (w/mint amp). Sure the Creative X-Fi's thing sounds great. I'ld love it, but I seriously doubt it will ever work for my card.
 
well lol... fps + gaming = creative sound blaster audigy 2 or 4 series :p
 
Hmm like I said I have an audigy2 and I have to play my games in software mode.

fps + audigy2= no gaming
 
well sorry to hear but its either creative if u absolutely have to have the most fps from your system. but if you're are like most of us, who have uber powerful cpu's, then fps isn't really an issue. if that's the case just get any soundcard that fits your budget and your needs
 
you can always try hercules Digifire sound cards, i personally have one, and its been almost three years. its the 7.1 version really good. never a problem.
 
An NX doesn't count, as you have found out. Get a regular Audigy2 and then you'll be fine!
 
Well I orginally had the zs and when I went to a small from factor case I no longer had room for it. When I first got it I couldn't tell any difference in sound quality and the fps hit was minimal. Little did I know that they were not going to support it. And I believe since it's just as new as the zs and cost more that it sure as hell counts. The company just sh!t on me and I'm not too eager to run out and buy another one of their products.
