Car mp3/media player (Install Pending)

how you plan on turning the amp on since (to my knowledge) amps require an amp-on wire coming from a headunit in order to turn on, and you wont have a headunit installed in your car?

you could do that easily with a relay or something... to turn an amp on all you gotta do is apply +12 to the "on" terminal...

or was it ground to the on terminal... pretty sure it was +12... but try ground first ;)

so it would basically be a "ignition on" type deal? probably was 12v then...

edit: I used my dmm and checked my amp, it is +12v... easy enough

geez, im like the only one keeping this thread alive...

im very curious, what did you use to "reform" your dash bezel to fit the lcd monitor screen... my guess would be bondo or something similar...?

Just saw this thread, kickass mod. where did you find windows xp emedded? and how long does it take to boot up?

fiberglass bondo was used to mold the screen into the dash

the xp isnt really embedded, i just made that screen up :)

also, i did complete the project (added 2nd amplifier + subwoofer, then finished the trunk), but i traded the car in last week on a 04 cadillac cts. i wont have this car for long either though, today i figured out it was in an acident prior to my purchase and i'm going back up to the dealership.

anyway, good luck to anyone who's working on a project like mine, i enjoyed doing it and the final results were production quality. its not easy keeping my self from doing this to my cts.

also, the 12v for the remote wire was tapped off from a cigarette lighter, i put a switch on it and mounted it under the dash
