Has anyone designed a car build ITX mobo computer. That has been a dream project all my adult life.

LOL me too... just too cheap to do it right, so I wont. I'm sure you've already checked out mp3car.com but there's lots of good ideas on there. What kind of car are you planning for?
 
i have! you cant half ass it, its hard enough to get ruggedized computer hardware to work properly in the BRUTAL conditions of a car. can be done though, just do things proper and dont buy cheap components. the biggest letdown to any carpc is unreliability. same as your car, if its not reliable then its no fun.
 
you're going to want a higher resolution than any indash rca/svid screen, which sucks, most of the cost in any of my plans comes from screen fab work.

I want a build with the least amount of impact on stock features of my car.
Netbook with an inverter & large ext. harddrive or wifi NAS.

If you aren't willing to cut up your dash to make this happen, it's not worth middling into.
 
Interesting, well I will probably preplan alot and bring in someone with some more experiance than me to help.
