capture video?

i have a lot of videos on vhs, and i want to transfer them to dvd, so i need to put them on the computer, without getting an aiw card, what would be the best option, and maybe inexpensive?

Presuming the system in your sig, you will want to invest in a 7200RPM hard drive, the biggest one you can afford, a DVD burner, and whatever software TV tuner card comes recommended in HTPC Forum. They have a sticky htread on good tuners, there are some solid software ones that will fit the bill for less than $50. You could get the whole project under way (larger HDD, DVD Burner, and Capture card) for less than $200. After that, a spindle of DVDs (the Ritek ones Newegg has on sale frequently are pretty good) The info here is a good start, head over to the HTPC Forum where there is plenty of info and people to help you get started.

Just about any tuner card would work for you (Avg about 80 bucks for a decent one). Then get yourself a copy of Ulead Movie factory and it does all the work for you (its pretty basic but its dead simple to use).

hauppauge tv tuner card is your best bet. The best quality by far.

I would recomment NOT to buy a software capture card.

So far I have not found a software encoder that I like, I'm going to buy a hardware card after trying several software solutions.
