Can't watch videos from a UK site

There's a web site with live sports coverage of a sporting event in the UK, but the site prevents me from watching it as it somehow knows I am not in the UK. How does it know this? From my IP address?

Is there a way to fool it into thinking I am in the UK? Is there software for this? Thanks.

You can use a proxy server, and yes it can get your country code from your IP address. Google "free http proxy" theres a bunch that list the country that they are from, find one from the UK and use that.

Thanks. I managed to find one and got it working, but the speed was sooooooooooo slow (I am sure due to a lot of people watching the video) decided not to watch after a few minutes.
