Cant set SSD as first boot option

So ive been having problems since I updated to the latest bios on my Sabertooth z77. Whenever I boot up the PC it detects two OS options even though I only have an OS on my SSD. I went to the bios to try to figure things out. I think I messed things up even more. I cant select the SSD as the main boot drive. The only options I get are my backup drive and DVD ROM. If I let it try to boot up on its own it says no drive detected. The only way I can get into windows is if I manually select my SSD in the boot override section of the BIOS.

Did you try a cmos clear and go back in to check after the update?

Can you set the SSD as the 2nd boot device?

Its not a problem if your CD/DVD drive is the first boot device as long as you dont have bootable media in the drive.

I didnt try to clear the cmos. I'll do that and see how it goes.

Im getting the same options in the second boot device.

Under "Hard Drive BBS Priorities" can you move the OCZ up to the first rank? And then select it under "Boot Option #1" (or 2, if you prefer the DVD on 1)?

It appears that the BIOS in the "Main" section identifies the SSD properly.

It appears that the BIOS in the "override" section identifies the SSD properly.

I think you are looking in the wrong place.

You should be able to set the boot order of the hard drives somewhere (I am not going to look in my ASUS UEFI Bios). Set the SSD as first in the order and disable all other hard drives.

Then you should be able to set the hard drives as the first type of device in the order and disable all the others.

Perhasp you could disconnect everything except the SSD and experiment.

Now my other question is... do you have the SSD plugged into the ASMedia or Intel SATA ports? :)

Ahh. 'Cause I got the vibe that maybe they were on the ASMedia ports... and in theory the Intel ports should perform a little better. But that's just my picky OCDness coming through. :)
