I figured out how to format through Disk Management and its formatting right now, but its going really slow, is that normal for a 250gig hdd?

I just dont remember my other 250 taking this long, and I didn't have to do it through Disk Management, its a Western Digital and it came with an app to do it.
 
Did you quick format or normal format? A quick format should only take a few seconds, a normal format will take a while. I think i had a 250 that took about 45 mins- 1hr.
 
Full formats take quite some time, I've had em take 1-2 hours before on large drives.
