Can't Record Off Xonar D2X

I've been going through at least 5 sound recorders and I none of them seem to be getting any signal. I've tried most of the "recording devices" and nothing, am I missing something?
 
Go into Xonar D2X audio control center, click on mixer tab at bottom, click on record tab, then if your using:

a) an instrument (or mp3 player or sumthin similar) plugged into the 'line in' plug on the back of the Xonar card itself
-click the box in the Xonar D2X control center just above the little eye icon which is just above the word 'line in'


or b) a mic plugged into the 'mic in' plug on the back of the Xonar card itself
-click the box in the Xonar D2X control center just above the little eye icon which is just above the word 'MIC'.


If you want to monitor (hear) the sound in your headphones or speakers that you are recording, then click the little 'eye' icon for which ever channel you are recording through (line in or mic in)..
