Can't Read External HD Under Windows (Linux works fine)

I have a 200GB external USB 2.0 hard drive which I store all of my music, videos, and class work on. To switch over to this particular HD I had to format it first, which I did under Linux using fdisk. The filesystem is FAT32 (according to QTParted and Partition Magic) and I can mount it fine under Linux and read all the information off it, but for some reason Windows refuses to recognize that I had an external hard disk plugged in at all. This makes it hard to trade music with my friends whom use Windows or work on a paper in a computer lab. I want to know why this is happening and what I can do to fix it. I don't want to format it if I can prevent it, but I'm thinking it might come to that anyway. Thanks!

when you plugged it into the windows systems did you take a look at the disk manager in windows management to see if it was seeing a physical drive but just wasn't mounting the data?
