Cant overclock AMD 64 3200+

I just built a new system:

Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9
AMD 64 3200+
Gigabyte Geforce 6600 GT
Corsair Xtra Low Latency 2-2-2-5
Dual 74g Raptors Raid 0
470Watt Power supply (forget which brand but its a good one)
Windows XP Pro SP2


If I try to bump up the fsb to anything over 205mhz I get memory reference errors and windows will not boot.


I have the Cool and Quiet option shut off. I have the HT Multiplier set to 4x.
I have tried 2-3-3-5 with the memory but it did not help the problem.

The Corsair Xtra Low Latency memory is advertised as automatically booting to 2-2-2-5.

Anyone else have this problem with this motherboard or memory?
 
that ram does not like going up too high...

try this: set your ram to the most relaxed timings your bios lets you - 3-4-4-8, if you can. then bump the memory voltage to like 2.8 (that memory can handle it just fine).

then try upping the FSB. run memtest after each FSB bump to make sure your memory is not giving errors.

once you find the max, try tightening the ram timings.
 
yeah, and for some reason's most a64 boards like timings of 9,10, or 11 on the last number.
 
The core is what we need to know. Some cores don't OC as well as others

I did get it to boot up at 2.2ghz with the memory timings at 2.5-3-3-7, so of course I tried to go higher at 2.4ghz and then I got another memory reference error.

I want to test higher memory timings and voltages but everytime it screws up and gives me the memory reference error I end up having to reinstall windows!

For some reason it corrupts windows files or messes up the raid 0 array. I would like to be able to overclock but having to reinstall every time is a bitch.

Anyone else get that when they overclock?
 
I'm willing to bet your harddrive is on SATA.....switch your harddrives to SATA 3 and 4 of they are.

Also, you're going to have to set your AGP frequency to 67 to lock the PCI/AGP. Give those hints a shot, see where it gets you.

I got it to run stable at 2.4 ghz.
I turned up my memory latency to 3-4-4-8 and my dimm voltage up by .2volts.

I feel like an idiot for buying Xtra low latency memory and having to turn up the timings to overclock.
I suppose I could have bought some cheaper ram with higher latency and ended up with the same thing. I think when I buy another stick I am going to go with something cheaper with higher stock latency and run dual channel.
