Cant overclock 4890 HD

Hey I have been having this problem with some of my old 4890 crossfire cards and was wondering if anyone has heard of this

the other day i grabbed a new PSU so I can get 2 4890's in a cross fire config and it worked great i was even overclocking them and stress testing my overclock when the PSU overheated due to the fan not working anyway get a new PSU run cross fire for the 4890's and now the slave GPU mem clock and gpu clock won't change in afterburner and cant get it to go up or down the GPU clock on the slave card will go down to 240Mhz After I run a 3D app for the first time after start up. I tried swapping the cards and re-installed the drivers after wiping them with driver fusion and I'm at a loss on what more I can do for this.

so anyone ever heard of this, look for this problem online has yield no results what so ever, I dont know if the bad PSU damaged my MODB when it overheated but i guess that's a possibility.

my system is in my sig the Q9550 rig
 
You're running that off an Earthwatts 650?

I ran a Q9650 @ 4.4Ghz with dual 4850s in crossfire on an Earthwatts 650 at one point and I don't recall having tons of headroom on that PSU.

Why are you trying to change the clocks on the slave card? It should sync the clocks of cards that are in crossfire, and you should only have to adjust the clocks on the primary card for it to adjust both.
 
actually i replaced the earth-watts with a 850watt cool master M2 i think and yes it has 3 pci-e cables, thats the one that crapped out the first time because the fan did not work, Replaced it and the second one is doing great


EDIT: I see both card in GPU-Z and befor the crash I have both cards doing 920MHz GPU 900MHz Mem and after i replaced the PSU now only the primary card will overclock I cant even get it to over clock when i do individual clock selection in afterburner
