I just got my ABIT AV8 rev 1.1 board and A64 3500+ and I can't get any OC out of this thing. I tried the following settings:

11x210mhz
HTT: 800mhz
vcore: 1.55v
vdimm: 2.8v
HTT voltage: 1.25v
BH-5 memory at 2-2-2-10

Prime95 doesn't even last a minute, my AGP speed is locked at 66mhz.

EDIT: My cooling is a SLK948U w/ Arctic Silver 5, heat is not an issue.

Try this and call me in the morning.

1. only overclock in windows not in bios. Use Clockgen
2. 10x200Mhz in bois
3. Vcore to 1.7v
4. Memory timings 2.5, 3, 3, 11
5. your Vdimm looks good.
6. set memory to 166Mhz.

I tried fooling around with the multiplyer on my Clawhammer and it just doesn't like that. Looks like you've got 939 so your multiplier is unlocked both ways.

Clockgen doesn't work with the VIA PRO chipset. Also S939 is only unlocked downward.

My system just crashed at STOCK speeds, and I'm giving it more voltage than stock settings... wtf?

I think it MIGHT have been my Antec 430W PSU, it doesn't boot up anymore it just starts up for a sec then shuts down and then repeats.

I'm using a RAIDMAX 420w until my Vantec 520W gets here, maybe I'll get better results then.

My computer doesn't even get past the POST screen with the Antec PSU anymore, it just freezes. This doesn't happen with the RAIDMAX.

Is it safe to assume my PSU was causing my PC to be unstable when OCing?

Possible. I have a 480W thermaltake purepower that I just figured out was causing some overclocking headaches. Your PSU might be bad, but chances are it is your 12v rail is to weak to support an overclcked A64 setup. I'd make sure your power supply has a bare minimum of 20 Amps on the 12v rail. I just picked up a new OCZ Powerstream 520W that should cure my problems. Also, I am sure you are not, but be sure that you are not running the fan for your SLK948 off the motherboard header. I did that once on a XP setup, but the fan draw was to large causing system instability.

The 430W has 26A on the +12v rail, I got it to boot again but I don't know how stable it will be.

What do you mean by the fan header thing? Having it connected to the motherboard will cause instability?

Yeah, I was talking about connecting it through the motherboard. Some of the higher CFM fans can cause to much of a draw off the motherboard. I got severe instability when I hooked up my YS Tech 50cfm 80mm fan to my 8RDA+. I connected it straight to the power supply using a regular molex and the problem went away.

My fan only has a 3 pin connector, are there any 3 to 4 pin connectors out there?

Oh, and I tried my CPU at 1.6v and RAM at 2.5-3-3-10 at 11x220 and it BSODed in windows in a matter of seconds. Many ABIT users seem to be having this problem. If I still have these problems its time to say hello to the ASUS A8V rev2.0.

If I run my memory in a 5:6 ratio (DDR333, HTT @ 200) I can run the HTT up to 245mhz and the CPU speeds to 2450mhz without crashing in prime after 1 minute.

Over at the ABIT forums it seems that ABIT has stated that DDR400 is a little wacky at the moment, especially at 1:1 ratio and anything over 200mhz.
