I got a K8V SE DELUXE motherboard and a WD 120 gb sata drive. I cant seem to install Window since window XP cant seem to detect any harddrive. What should I do to make it work? The motherboard didnt come with a SATA drivers cd or anything. Thanks

you need to make a bootable floppy that has the sata drivers on it already. there should be a disk maker on the CD that came with your motherboard.

Just look on the site as to what chipset it uses for SATA then just type that into google and download the bootdisk image from where ever you find it.

Had to do the same thing with an A7N8X that my friend lost his cd with

Just go in to your Bios and go Disable Raid, after that save setting to Cmos then reboot computer then window should able to detect your HDD. I got the same problem with my Gigabyte 8I915P Duo Pro :p

I had to use a slipstreamed WinXP SP2 to install on my SATA drive.

I also had to DISCONNECT the PATA drive during the installation otherwise Windows wouldn't boot after the installation. Once installed, I was able to reconnect the PATA drive again.

Definitely don't like SATA. Seems dumbed down, buggy and unfinished and the Raptor isn't even truly SATA as it uses a Serializer chip.
/end anti-SATA rant :D
