Hopefully this is the right spot.

I've tried windows 7 64, windows vista 32 and 64. They all lock up at the same spot. It will do the white bar loading files then the appropriate logo and after a few seconds the machine locks up, and sometimes reboots instead

I've tried using only 1 stick of ram and swapping it out with the other 2 to see if that made a bit of difference.

I've tried using just the 500GB drive and just the 1TB drive, and no drive

Ran memtest86 4.10 and everything passed

took my wireless card out

tried using only 1 optical drive

unplugged all usb devces

disabled USB 3.0, floppy, and LAN in BIOS

What else should I try to get this thing to load?

Thanks

Try running memtest86 on each of the sticks individually. If that passes, and you're still having trouble, perform a barebones bench test (instructions are listed in the troubleshooting sticky).

this is caused by a drive, either hard or optical. disconnect all unused drives. if it still happens, try installing windows onto another hard drive, just to see if you can. if it still doesnt work, try a different optical. or like the above fellow says, experiment with different controller modes, ie ahci, ide, etc.

got it. thanks for all the suggestions but the cause was none of those. It was a DOA motherboard. I tried swapping everything out and was running out of ideas, so I went up to a local shop and bought a motherboard and my friend was going to bring over his video card. I swapped all of my components over to the new motherboard and it worked like a champ first time.
