Free copy of window xp sp3, video card is gigabye GV-NX96T512H, the windows built in driver works okay. Whenever I tried to install the latest nvidia driver (182.06), computer freezes after restart with the windows xp logo on screen. I can boot into safe mode, uninstall nvidia drivers then my computer works fine.
Any thoughts? No overclock or anything.

Restore to the last known good configuration. That's probably be the last time windows fully loaded.

I want the nvidia drivers, but they make my comp crash, if I uninstall VGA driver, reboot windows, then windows will find new hardware, I install the nvidia driver, then I got a black screen. If you run the nvidia .exe file, installation is okay, but when i reboot, comp freezes, weird.

Could be me, but I wasn't aware there was such a thing as a free version of windows. This could very easily be your problem.

In safe mode, used driver sweeper to clean out the old drivers. Then reinstall the latest stable driver.

Boot sequence set to PEG/IGD, I suppose it means pci express graphics/integrated graphics, windows works fine without nvidia drivers

Check your PCIE bus...make sure its at 100
I had a similar situation when I went from an 8800 to a 260 and updated my drivers ...i have no explanation as to why, but it would not let me load the drivers..and it was doing the same thing yours is..

I set my PCIe bus to 100( I run it at 115 normally) and they installed fine..went back and changed it back to 115 and its fine ever since...it just would not let me install with the bus overclocked....
Like I said, I have no explanation as to why it happened, but its worth a shot to see if that's what your problem is also.
