Well i just finish'ed building a computer last night and used the internet at his house which he has dsl. Now i get back to my apartments which everyroom has broadband connection and now it won't connect to it. My reg computer picks up the internet but not the new one. Is there some setting im forgeting to enable or do i have to really call the provider for this apartments !

My ESP isn't working this morning, so forgive me if I don't know some of the details of the problem. are you behind a DHCP router, or is it connected just into some switch or hub? If so, you may be over your limit for IPs, or the MAC isn't picked up by the ISP and therefore not assigned an address, etc.

Without knowing anything about your type of connection, how it's configured, etc....we can't help at all.

hey man thanks for replying, but to help you out, well the apartment has four rooms and each of us has an individual broadband connection to GRU. I dont have a router or switch , all im doing is connecting it to the wall w/ obviously a cat5 cable. Anymore info ?

I've never heard of a connection like that. Is that cable or DSL? Either way, I'd call your ISP and see if you have a limit to the number of IP addresses you can use. This is all once you verify that your NIC in the new computer is installed correctly and working.

update : Well i tried my roomates room (which he doesn't have ac omuter) and it connects fine. Its only in my room that won't connected. I think i gotta clear some settings or something off..beats me !

Make sure your Internet Connection Firewall (under advance settings in your network folder under control panel) is off.

If it works fine in his room, but not yours, than it's quite obvious it's nothing to do with your computer.
