I just bought an 80gb 7200rpm SATA hard drive, along with this stuff
Gigabyte 3d rocket cooler
Gigabyte ga-k8nf-9
Gigabyte 6600GT
Mushkin DDR400 2x512
Raidmax blue case
Athlon Socket 939 3000+
Everything turned on fine. Bios checked my ram, but it said "CPU SPEED 200MHZ". Sometimes it will say "Athlon 64 3000+". I thought something was screwed up, but thats not important. Whats important is getting the stupid SATA hard drive to work.
Bios detects nothing under any hard drive autodetect. I pushed CTL+F1 for advanced options and turned on every SATA thing in there, which did nothing.
pushing F10 to bring up NVIDIA's RAID setup program, shows my 80gb Hitachi. The only way I could get the SATA to work was by using a 1990 conner IDE "spanned" with the 80gb. The conner is louder than anything.
Booting off the XP home cd shows my 80 gig Hitachi as well, but after I reboot from the first stage of installing, my computer pretty much says "hard drive, what hard drive?"
How do I get my motherboard to boot off my stupid SATA drive without raiding in an IDE drive?
