I bought a Dual-Link DVI to HDMI adapter, and my PC sees the monitor as "DVI" like before.

However, I don't get any picture on the monitor. It defaults to 1080x1080(lol?), but I created a custom resolution using 2560x1440, and I still don't get any picture on the screen.

How can I fix this?

Got it to work, I had to use CVT Reduced Blank .. now I need to google what that does ;)

dvi-hdmi is single link. Need to use dual-link dvi or dual-link dvi with an active displayport adapter.

I bought a DVI-D to HDMI cable. It was a pain to find a dual link one, but I did and it was under $11. :D
And it works, I'm using it now.

You're getting 2560x1440@60Hz out of a DVI-HDMI cable?

Yep. DVI on Monitor's end, HDMI on Video card.

Dude! Sweet!

Thanks for sharing this. Beats an active displayport adapter for sure.

If you're AMD, make sure you have CVT Reduced Blank.

I was thinking of trying your solution icor1031... anymore information on why it works? Seems sort of magical as this defies common knowledge of hdmi's limitations I thought.
