Can't get new 9600 to work

I bought my friend a radeon 9600 128mb, he couldnt afford the pro version to replace his dead kyro II video card. Now every time I try and start a 3d game like serious sam the computer screen turns black and all I can do is hit the reset button on the pc to get back to windows.

Specs:

Biostar M7VIW - upgraded to the latest bios
Windows XP Pro
Generic 56K modem
256MB PC 133 RAM
AMD Thunderbird 900MHz
Enlight 250W Power Supply
Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600 128MB

Also I thought it was a bad video card at first but ordered another one (Sapphire 9600 256MB) and had the same things happening.

Tried with a 350w enermax power supply and same thing.

Turned Fast writes off and same thing.

Latest via drivers installed for motherboard.

I have a bad feeling that his motherboard doesnt like ATI video cards.

Any suggestions?
 
Sounds like a weird situation... you try and post that over on the MOBO forum? Just a suggestion..
